Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Tyler Windham has always been deeply committed to helping others and critically engaging with the world around him. His early years were shaped by a strong sense of justice and a desire to advocate for those in need. This passion led him to pursue a degree in Philosophy at Mississippi State University, where he developed a keen ability to analyze complex issues and think deeply about ethical and legal questions.
During his time at Mississippi State, Tyler realized that a career in law would allow him to combine his love for critical thinking with his dedication to serving vulnerable populations. Determined to make a difference, he graduated magna cum laude and continued his education at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham.
While at Cumberland, Tyler immersed himself in numerous organizations and programs dedicated to advancing progressive causes and serving the public interest. He was instrumental in founding organizations that provided a sense of community and advocacy for LGBT and Native American law students, ensuring that underrepresented voices had a platform within the legal field. His commitment to justice also extended beyond student organizations—he was an active participant in the Cumberland Innocence Clinic, where he worked in collaboration with the Georgia Innocence Project to review and gather evidence that could lead to the exoneration of wrongfully convicted individuals.
During law school, Tyler faced personal challenges that tested his resilience and dedication. While balancing a demanding academic schedule, he also divided his time between Birmingham and Huntsville to assist his mother in caring for his terminally ill father. Despite these difficulties, he remained steadfast in his commitment to his studies and his passion for the law. Tragically, he lost his father before completing his degree, a loss that only strengthened his resolve to pursue a legal career that champions justice and fairness.
After graduating from law school, Tyler took the Alabama State Bar Exam in 2022, earning a spot among the top 10% of test takers in the state. He then began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Jim Hughey III in Alabama’s 10th Judicial Circuit. In this role, he gained hands-on experience with a wide range of civil cases, including property disputes, grandparent visitation cases, medical malpractice suits, and vehicular accident claims. This exposure to diverse legal matters further solidified his expertise and passion for advocacy.
Now admitted to practice law in Alabama, Tyler continues his professional journey with the same unwavering commitment to justice that has guided him from the start. He currently resides in Birmingham, where he shares a home with his younger brother, embracing both his professional and personal responsibilities with dedication and purpose.
